The Role

Learning Facilitator - Optimizing learning through structured/designed interventions i.e. training program, in controlled learning environments i.e. learning room, with the focus on the learner(s) and not the intervention

The learning facilitator is responsible for ensuring that the learning environment and the manner of presentation assist the learners in their learning. This involves:

  • establishing the climate for learning
  • presenting material clearly
  • responding to learner concerns, and
  • providing ways for the learners to evaluate their progress towards achieving the learning objectives.

Overview of the Program

The program covers Engaging, Enabling, Coaching & Feedback and develops the following skills:

Integrating
Structuring
Contexting
Expressing
Intervening
Clarifying
Listening and Responding
Exploring skills
Reviewing skills
Actioning skills

In addition , the workshop covers Leading the Process and addresses the following:

Leading skill development
Learner centeredness
Learning outcomes focus
Giving feedback
Integrating "conceptual" knowledge and skill development.
Establishing clear on the job development goals
Reviewing progress towards achieving development goals
Give effective feedback in relation to meeting the developmental goals

Engaging

How to explore with others the meaning and context of the theory / model(s) / must know information ('essential embedded knowledge') in a manner which encourages an increased level of consciousness and an increased capacity for action.  

Enabling

How to create a positive, safe environment while providing direction through guiding the group process to enable achievement of agreed objectives / goals / outcomes.

Coaching & Feedback

Coaching & Feedback - How to assist individuals or a team in their development as they work towards achieving agreed outcomes. It involves giving guidance and direction, and working with them on how they can go about achieving a certain objective (s) or developing a skill (s).
